Checking into Ashford Castle...
Ok not really "Checking In" since it might be slightly out of our budget this time but Barry had a surprise up his sleeve instead of just touring another castle. It is Ireland after all, no shortage of castles. We were surprised with Falconry, everyone had a chance to have Inca the hawk land on their arm for the ideal picture moment.
On the Road Again... Along The Connemara Countryside
Is that one of the seven dwarfs? Nope just mom peeking out the door of an the home of the Monks of Cong Abbey in County Mayo.
Our lunch stop, best open crab sandwiches! 4 stars!

Reenacting the fight scene from "The Quiet Man", we might be in Technicolor but I think we could give John Wayne a run for his money in the classic film.
So many places to see so little time!

Although the drive along Connemara was beautiful it had it's sad moments. The Doolough Cross commemorates the famine walk Irish men & women took to their Protestant landlords to plead for help, when no help came they took the long walk back and perished. Another stop was at Croagh Patrick (St. Patrick's Mountain) and at the bottom is a statue by John Behan to remember those lost at sea on Coffin Ships who were looking for refuge.
